‘Tis the Season to Sparkle and Shine

by mudra craftstamps
Hi! Nandini here with some inspiration for the current challenge at Mudra Craft Stamps. We recently released a whole lot of fabulous stamps, stencils, Chipzeb etc. I have really enjoyed playing with them and I bring you some fresh inspiration for the holidays.

Card 1:
I am a big fan of heat embossing and the Starburst stamp set was just asking for some.

  • Take a top folding red card base.
  • Stamp the images and heat emboss with a mix of metallic and glitter embossing powders. I used red glitter, gold, platinum and silver powders.
  • Stamp the Christmas Wishes stamp on a piece of black cardstock. I love this bold little stamp that packs a punch.
  • Heat emboss with gold glitter embossing powder.
  • Trim the panel and mat it with some gold foil paper. Add it to the card with some foam tape.

Here is a closer look at the card. Unfortunately, glitter is very difficult to photograph. In real time this card is all sparkly and shimmery.

Card 2:
I just adore the chipboard shapes that have been released this month. They are a fun addition to cards and very easy to colour, heat emboss etc to create custom embellishments.

  • Take a piece of watercolour paper and smoosh three colours of distress inks on it. The secret to getting this effect right is to add the colours in layers, drying between each layer.
  • Add some distressing by sprinkling water and allowing it to dry. Add some splatters with white paint and allow the panel to dry.
  • Die cut the dry panel.
  • Take the largest snowflake from the Snowflakes Frame Chipzeb and cover it with three layers of silver embossing powder. Add two more layers Snowflake Tinsel embossing powder to get a glittery snowflake.
  • Adhere the watercoloured panel to a navy blue card base. Add the snowflake to the card with liquid glue.
  • The sentiment is from the Christmas Poinsettia stamp set. Heat emboss it with silver embossing powder on a piece of black cardstock. Mount it on foam tape for added dimension.

Card 3:
I designed this set with Christmas in mind. I wanted to create images that have a more graphic look and are easy to colour.

  • Take a piece of white cardstock and stamp the leaves and berries from the Christmas Poinsettia stamp set with red and green inks. I used the stamp blocks by Mudra and they have such a great grip that it is easy to get a clear, crisp impression every time!
  • Colour the images with markers.
  • Fill up the empty spaces with gold dots. I used the back of a brush and gold acrylic paint.
  • Once the paint is dry, die cut it to size.
  • Take a strip of red cardstock and stamp and heat emboss the sentiment from the Santa’s World stamp set.
  • Adhere the stamped panel to a green card base. Add the sentiment panel with foam tape to the card.

Card 4:
I also made a birthday card with the Birthday set that was released this month.

  • Take the candle stamp from the Birthday stamp set. Apply ink with the Zigs, spritz twice with water and then stamp. Do a couple of test runs to check the amount of water you want. More the amount of water, more watery the effect. Also, remember to clean the stamp thoroughly in between colours to avoid contamination.
  • Trim the panel once it is dry.
  • The sentiment is from the Carnations stamp set. I heat embossed it in gold on a piece of black paper. I trimmed the panel, punched two holes on either side and then added some jute twine. I added some foam tape behind the sentiment strip and then attached it to the stamped panel.
  • The ready panel was mounted on the card base with some more foam tape.
  • To finish, I added a thin strip of black above the stamped panel.

Here is a closer look at the card.

I hope you enjoyed my inspiration cards.
